Preschool Curriculum

Premier International School is an IB world school *teaching the Primary Years Programme and a candidate school for the IB MYP Programme. Our Preschool curriculum is beautifully integrated with Montessori teaching methodology. Being a student in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) means the children are learning about themselves and acting in the world. The primary goal of the PYP is to develop internationally minded students who are:

  • Inquirers
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Risk-takers
  • Knowledgeable
  • Principled
  • Caring
  • Open-minded
  • Balanced
  • Reflective

Our teaching methods are inquiry based. The IBO principles, practices, and standards are followed in delivery of concepts, knowledge and skills to children. They build on students' individual knowledge and interests, and emphasize learning how to learn and how to find out, using both traditional and contemporary media. The PYP at the Premier International Preschool:

  • Provides individualized attention and service
  • Integrates good teaching practices such as Montessori in the inquiry based method
  • Provides a play-based developmental program
  • Emphasizes whole-child approach and hands-on learning
  • Develops theories about their world through different play activities
  • Practices a wide set of skill sets
  • Enhances skills that contribute to school success
  • Maintains strong parent communication to work in partnership with parents to help their children to learn and develop

The subject areas of Mathematics, Language (Nepali and English), Science, Personal, Social and Physical Education, Information technology, the Arts, Library, Dance, and Music are taught in context of exploring the transdisciplinary themes in order to help students make connections between the subjects, thereby facilitating learning beyond the boundaries of traditional subjects . The Preschool program will explore four of the six IB PYP Transdsciplinay Themes that provide the framework for learning as following:

  • Who we are
  • Where we are in place and time
  • How we express ourselves
  • How the world works
  • How we organize ourselves
  • Sharing the planet

* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
