MYP
Empowering Global Learners: The MYP Journey to 21st Century Skills and Academic Excellence
In the MYP, our student-centered inquiry-based units provide our
students with authentic opportunities to develop 21st Century skills
that are essential for adapting to society’s changing needs.
The Middle School programme assimilates the National Curriculum within the IB MYP curriculum framework, an ideal combination for developing socially responsible global citizens. The program also helps our learners to successfully take the IB MYP and the National Education Board exams: the BLE in Grade 8 and the SEE in Grade 10.
In the MYP, which features inquiry-based, learner-centered units, we place a focus on conceptual teaching and learning processes. Our students explore six global contexts via subject specific learning, using the ATL skills that are individualized in accordance with their learner profiles.
We also emphasize on interdisciplinary opportunities which can arise between subjects
and help our students make authentic connections between their learning experiences and the real world. An essential aspect of the IB pedagogy is student agency and that belief is further developed and strengthened through Service as Action and Community Projects.
The strong academic grounding and mastery of essential 21st Century skills provided by the MYP programme create an excellent student foundation for the IBDP years.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP):
Preparing students to be successful in school and to be active, lifelong learners
The MYP is designed for students aged 11 to 16. It provides a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and to the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement, qualities that are essential for life in the 21st century.
At Premier International IB Continuum School, our MYP spans four years instead of three, with a 1-year gap at Grade 10.
